Application Process

Interested in applying? Keep reading for more information about how the process works and what you need to do.

1. READ THIS WEBSITE!

Before you do anything else, read through the material on this website carefully. It covers everything from the structure of the New York City public school system to the types of courses you might take as a Fellow. Familiarize yourself with the details of the program.

The NYC Teaching Fellows program holds regular information sessions for individuals interested in applying. To register for an information session, click here.

2. CHECK YOUR ELIGIBILITY

Applicants to the program must meet a number of eligibility requirements in order to be considered. Make sure you're eligible!

3. APPLY!

Applying is easy with our online application. You can complete your application and submit your resume and personal statement electronically. Apply online today!

4. INTERVIEW (if invited)

Applicants demonstrating potential will be invited to participate in an interview event. (You should know whether you have been invited to an interview within approximately three weeks of submitting your completed application.) You must be prepared to interview in New York City and submit one unofficial transcript from each university attended within two to three weeks of being invited. The interview event will include a teaching sample, a discussion with other candidates, and a personal interview. Not all applicants will be invited to interview.

5. WAIT FOR A DECISION

Based on the strengths of your application and interview, the Fellowship will decide whether or not you are right for the program. Please note that notification of a final decision on your application is tied to your interview date. (We will begin notifying candidates of admissions decisions in late January.)
